Fans pouring into the debut screening received a pleasant surprise — Zoku Owarimonogatari will air on TV as a series of six episodes! That’s right, you don’t have to trek to a stuffy theatre to catch the series’ finale! However, Shaft didn’t share a debut date for the TV version.
Zoku Owarimonogatari is the final book of the ‘Final Season,’ and it contains the Koyomi Reverse arc, which takes place after Koyomi’s college entrance exams and before attending college. Uncertain about his future, Koyomi accidentally stumbles into a mirror world one morning with no way to communicate with Shinobu. The arc is chronologically set before Hanamonogatari.
Nisio Oisin is writing an all-new ‘Monster Season’, which follows a 23-year-old Koyomi Araragi working as a police officer. The first book was published in July, and Shaft hasn’t announced any adaptation plans of that project yet.
