Netsuzou TRap -NTR- Review

Netsuzou TRap -NTR- is going to be this season’s hotly contested anime. Hell, people were arguing about it before the first episode. The anime centers around two girls cheating on their boyfriends, giving us the double-whammy of being yuri and NTR.

I hope you like closeups because you’re going to get a lot of them.

It’s not an unfaithful adaptation. The manga has always walked a thin line between trashy and interesting. The first anime episode fully embraces the trashy side.

There only two characters you need to keep in mind: Yuma and Hotaru. The girls have been friends since childhood, which leads Yuma to propose a double-date with Hotaru for a night out with her first-time boyfriend. Things get feisty real quick.

Yuma has pink hair and Hotaru has black hair.

Netsuzou TRap -NTR- is a short format anime, so there isn’t a lot of time to build up the characters or to set the scene. instead, we get quick toilet action, close-up kisses, and blushing. The plot feels choppy and this first episode almost abuses close-ups, leading to a visually uninteresting episode. Usually, studios show off their best animation and intrigue in a first episode, which makes this even more disappointing in comparison to the rest of the season.

If the production is done right, Netsuzou TRap -NTR- could be a decent character study. Without spoiling anything, Yuma spends time coming to terms with her homosexuality when she’s not being sexually assaulted by Hotaru. Yuma is trying to understand her own sexuality and curiosity while juggling the social expectations of having a boyfriend. That’s not something too many yuri series explore.

Netsuzou TRap -NTR- Yuri

Unfortunately, Netsuzou TRap -NTR- falls into the tired trope of “sexually assault your character until they like it.” Hotaru does not care about consent and forces herself on Yuma whenever she sees an opening. It can be off-putting and get repetitive pretty fast.

Of course, you could say I’m just overthinking a softcore ecchi, but Netsuzou TRap -NTR- is trying to have some social commentary with its smut.

There are better shorts out this season, but Netsuzou TRap -NTR- might be able to satisfy your trashy desires if you don’t require a story, characters, good animation, and lack titillation.
