Kaguya Sama: War is Love Live Action Movie

Kaguya Sama: War is Love Live Action Movie

Get ready to clap your hands Kaguya-sama: War is Love fans, because…the manga is getting a live-action movie.

Okay, it’s not a second season announcement, but Shueisha is hoping that the rom-com will connect with filmgoers. The movie will star King & Prince idol member Shou Hirano as Miyuki Shirogane and Kanna Hashimoto (Ritsu in the live-action Assassination Classroom movies) as Kaguya Shinomiya. Their co-stars weren’t announced and the teaser image doesn’t feature the duo in costume.

Will the movie be any good? That depends on how you view the director and lead writer. Hayato Kawai has built a reputation directing adaptations of manga with a specialization on rom-coms. His notable efforts include Ore Monogatari!!The Black Devil and the White Prince, and Nisekoi — all of which received decent reviews. Screenwriter Yuuichi Tokunaga’s notable credits include the Princess Jellyfish live-action TV series, Sunshine Days, and Fugitive Boys.

It’s safe to assume that Kaguya-sama: Love is War will be a fairly watchable movie based on their past credits, but Shueisha will share additional production news later. The movie will debut on September 6, so fans will be able to see a trailer relatively soon!
