You don’t have to worry about being special or normal compared to everyone else!
It doesn’t matter who it is.
So as long as they think you’re special, then you’re special.
Those with talent who aren’t aware of themselves cause pain for those who have none.
Set during the grey life of Oreki’s high school, the story begins when he joins the school’s Classics Club out of obligation rather than choice. He did it for his older sister who wanted to stop the discontinuation of the club due to lack of members.
For someone who isn’t interested in any form of activity, joining a club can get quite tiresome, but he joins just for the sake of his sister. But things take an unexpected turn when new members come in, one of them being the protagonist Chitanda Eru, who keeps on tickling Oreki’s brain with new questions and puzzles.
Shortly after meeting Oreki, Chitanda starts driving Oreki into a corner by bringing in new mysteries to solve every now and then. The mysteries are the ingredients of the story, involving different time lapse and ghost sightings during a trip.
But the best thing about the whole anime is everything is 100% original, and no two mysteries are the same, thus keeping you glued to the anime for hours even after finishing it.
For those of you who haven’t watched Hyouka, I’ll give you three good reasons on why you should watch it and how different it is from the rest.
- The anime explores the concept of laziness and how intelligent people often feel out of place and bored. As far as I know there aren’t any similar anime. Oregairu is relatively close but the main characters are miles apart.
- Simple and realistic characters. There are no unrealistic power ups or over smart people, it’s the story of four regular teenagers on a quest. Simple yet beautiful.
- The character development is really great.
